Standing at the Bar or Barre
My aerobics class on Thursday was taught by another instructor. They alternate between two women for the beginners/intermediate classes, which also means I now have to learn two routines.
I knew I was in trouble when I walked into the class and everyone was standing at the ballet bar. This instructor looks like a ballerina, with her head held high. We did about 10 minutes of stretching at the bar then went on to aerobics. For a moment during the step routine, I felt like giving up. I was awful and couldn't get my feet to do what everyone else in class was doing.
Then I reminded myself of something that happened at the beginning of class.
A middle aged lady walked in about 5 minutes after class started and when she got up to the bar, theballerina instructor ran over to her and said "Iris, look at you! Half of you is gone!"
I want to be that lady next year and I won't be if I walk out of this class.
So I continued to let my feet do their own thing . . . the routine will get easier each time I go (I hope). We finished up the last 15 minutes of class stretching at the bar. I haven't felt this long or lean since 7th grade.
